The Saber Academy teaches comprehensive curriculum of combat principles, but it also includes, saber engineering, armorcraft, and creative Fandom arts.

Combat Basics...
All students begin their combat training with the same four levels of “Combat Basics”. This material gives all students a solid background in Saber strikes, blocks, footwork, and fencing strategies.
...And Beyond
After completing the Combat Basics, students can move on to study the saber in practically an infinite number of ways. Artists can study the saber using any martial arts techniques and can study various saber configurations, like dual saber, and saber staff.
The Saber Academy Merit System
Each time a student completes work in various areas of achievement they earn “Merits”. Similar to merit badges in scouts but for lightsabers and blasters. Each students starts in the Academy as an “Initiate” as they earn mertis they promote up through a rank system including “Apprentice”, “Knight”, and eventually “Grand Master”.
Students can choose to study over 100 already exisiting Merits, or work with Saber Academy Masters to create new merits of thier own.
Merits are award by one of the three “Schools” of the Academy.
The School of Arts
The School of Arts grants Merits for works of expression and creativity such as choreogrpahy, literature, music and creating original Fandom content.
The School of Combat
Merits from the School of Combat are awarded for achievements in martial arts and competition. These warriors earn merits as they train and grow their skillset.
The School of Engineering
The School of Engineering are the “makers” of the Academy. Merits from this school are awarded for learning and applying craft skills to weapons, armor, and props.

Saber Form: Cyclone
Learn this choregraphed set of movements deisgned to domenstrate skill with the saber staff.
Character Creation
Create your own original Universe character along with personality, history, and a visual representation (art or cosplsay).
Combat Basics 01
Learn the basic strikes, blocks and footwork of the Saber Academy as well as two basic fencing strategies.
Heavy Dual Saber
Learn to use a pair of heavy sabers; one long, one short. This style is reminiscent of the arts of Miyamoto Mushashi and a famous Universe swordswoman.
Novice Sabersmith
Learn to build your own basic saber with working LED lights and a functional combat hilt and blade.
Armor Craft
Work with various materials including high impact plastics, foam, leather, and metal to build your own armor pieces. This is the way…

Master Jay Rhea
Chief Program Instructor
Master Rhea has studied martial arts, kinesthetics, and choreography for many years. He uses knowledge, his fandom, and his passion for teaching to make studying the light saber fun, interesting, and challenging.
Master Geoff Beeson
Founder and Assistant Instructor
Master Beeson founded the Saber Academy in 2017. He has taught swordsmanship and fencing for more then 20 years and uses his background in Japanese martial arts and knowledge of other styles to help students learn effective saber fighting techniques.
